Letter, 1856 February 9.

A letter from Henry M. Dodge, St. Paul, Minnesota, to Peter Barbeau, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, commenting on St. Paul's economic growth, construction of the cathedral, steamboat lines, mutual friends, and fellow settler Franklin Steele. Dodge moved from Sault Ste. Marie to St. Paul in 1855.

Peter B. Barbeau was a prominent merchant and community leader in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, during the nineteenth century. He was born June 29, 1800, in LaPrairie, Quebec, and died in the Sault on October 17, 1882. According to available information, Barbea arrived in the Sault in 1817.
